The I4 students have recently concluded their Light Project, an experiential learning initiative where they explored and discovered different aspects of light through experimentation, curiosity, and play.
Throughout the project, the children explored the properties of light, discovering shadows, colours, and transparency while experimenting with different materials. Through hands-on activities, they observed how light passes through objects, changes colors, and creates shadows, helping them better understand how light interacts with the world around them.
To celebrate the end of the project, families were invited into the classroom to experience firsthand what the students had been learning over the past few weeks. The children had the opportunity to share their discoveries and guide their parents through the different activities and experiments they had worked on.
During the visit, parents and children explored together using light tables, colors, translucent materials, and shadow activities, creating shapes, drawings, and constructions while observing how light transforms objects and surfaces. They also participated in shadow play, discovering how shadows are formed and how they change depending on the position of the light.
This experience was a wonderful opportunity to bring families closer to the daily life of the classroom, allowing them to see how students learn through exploration, creativity, and hands-on experiences.
The Light Project is part of the school’s Early Years methodology, which focuses on experiential learning, encouraging curiosity and discovery while helping students better understand the world around them. It was a day full of light, learning, and shared moments between students and their families.
