Secondary education in Sarriá

33% of the teaching time is in English by native or bilingual teachers. Students receive personalized training to obtain Cambridge English Assessment certifications, such as the First Certificate (B2), Advanced (C1) and Proficiency (C2).

They also learn English functionally through subjects such as Science, Technology and Economics, applying the language in different fields and contexts. They also have the option of studying a fourth language (French or German) and taking exams at B1 or B2 levels.

Starting from 3rd year of ESO, we offer the American Dual Baccalaureate to those students who wish to enrich their studies with a double curriculum. This program allows them to obtain the US High School Diploma together with the Spanish qualification, preparing them for a competitive global market.

We also offer quarterly and annual exchanges and summer camps in the USA, Ireland and Switzerland through our OAK academies.

Scientific and mathematical skills are key in our curriculum, fostering curiosity and knowledge through:

• Projects and laboratory experiences:Participation in science fairs and external competitions to discover, learn and understand.

Linguistic competence

• Reading comprehension and written expression: We work on language subjects (Catalan, Spanish and English) and in all subjects through the understanding of complex texts, identification of important information, relationship and synthesis of concepts.
• Oratory:  Students develop speaking skills through practical training, learning to work on empathy, defend opinions, seek and defend the truth, question reasons, discover logic, look for evidence, and improve nonverbal and assertive communication. This program strengthens critical thinking and the ability to communicate effectively.

The development of critical thinking in our students is a priority at this stage. We continue with the thinking strategies initiated in Primary, using routines and skills that promote effective and visible thinking. We train students to become passionate seekers of Truth.

This intellectual challenge involves applying skills to analyze, reflect, compare, discern, explain and make decisions based on information, aligned with your hierarchy of values.

Through critical thinking training, students learn to:

• Questioning others’ opinions: Evaluating and analyzing others’ ideas and points of view.
• Differentiating between opinion and information: Identifying what is true and what is not.
• Forming your own opinion: Developing informed judgments about the environment around you.

Study techniques workshops are held in collaboration with the Department of Psychopedagogical Guidance.

Throughout this stage, we work on:

• The ability to relate new learning to prior knowledge
• Visual thinking
• Diagrams and mind maps

In addition to all this, constant study is promoted, both independently and in groups, as well as effort as a path to achieving personal improvement.

Career guidance: We help students discover their calling through a program that identifies their gifts and opportunities, offering a variety of subjects from Secondary School and a specific program in 3rd year of ESO.

Education for love: We support students in understandingof the true value and meaning of their body, affection and sexuality. To do this we workwith the program “Let’s Learn to Love”, supported by the UFV.

Parents’ School: We provide ongoing training to parents with expertson topics that interest and concern parents, as well as creating a meeting place to reflect as a group on the educational task and other current issues.

Program of virtues: We encourage the acquisition of essential virtues in our students through training activities adapted to each course, focused on values ​​such as order, friendship, generosity, effort and respect.

Formative discipline: Our educators work to ensure that children discover the values ​​that underlie the rules on a daily basis, so that they act out of self-conviction and not merely because of the imposition of a regulation.

Our students collaborate with social entities in areas such as the defense of life, social inclusion, assistance for the elderly, environmental care and the fight against poverty.

The “One to One” program allows our secondary school students to provide academic support to those in primary school who need it. This program teaches how to serve others and fosters attitudes such as empathy, gratitude, humility and generosity.

In ESO, we seek to ensure that students assume increasing social responsibility by engaging in social activities developed by various entities.

In 4th year of ESO, we encourage social participation through Service-Learning (APS) projects, which integrate social action into the academic curriculum while improving the environment through projects that respond to real needs.

We work in harmony, alternating between analogue media (books and notebooks) and digital media (devices); both ways of working are the ideal combination for the learning process.

We incorporate technology as a transversal tool, gradually and adapted to each stage. We want our students to learn to live with technology in a responsible, reflective and creative way.”
